BRIDGEPORT, PA. – Hartwick sophomore Kamila Zakirova (Almaty, Kazakhstan) scored 11 times over four games to lead the No. 17-ranked Hawks to a sixth place finish at the 2012 Collegiate Water Polo Association Eastern Championship and was named the Western Division Rookie of the Week.

She opened the tournament with a goal in a 17-6 victory over Notre Dame College before adding a pair of markers against both No. 14 University of Maryland (4-7 L) and Bucknell University (15-6 W) to move into the fifth place game.

Facing No. 12 Indiana University for fifth place in the final 12-team tournament standings, Zakirova tallied six goals as the Hawks fell to the Hoosiers 12-10 in overtime.

It marks the fourth weekly honor of the season for Zakirova as she previously garnered notice as the February 20, March 26 and April 16 Western Division Rookie of the Week. Last week, Zakirova was named the CWPA's Western Division Rookie of the Year.
