Brittany LaVaute (Skaneateles, NY/Skaneateles HS) and junior defender
Erica Scicchitano (Centerport, NY/Harborfields HS) each were selected to the Empire 8 Second Team. Senior
Hannah Kennedy (Avon, CT/Avon HS) was selected to the conference's Sportswoman of the Year team for the fourth time in her career.
LaVaute earns second team honors for the first time in her four-year career with the Hawks. She received honorable mention from the league following both her sophomore and juniors seasons.
This year, she led Hartwick in goals scored (25), assists (13), points (38). Her 13 assists was the highest single-season output of her career and her 38 points tied for a career-best. LaVaute ranked second in the Empire 8 this season in caused turnovers per game with an average of 1.79 per contest.
For her career, LaVaute scored 93 goals and delivered 32 assists for 125 points. She also accumulated 116 ground balls, 114 draw controls, and 72 caused turnovers. She netted a career-high six goals against Elmira during her sophomore season and secured career highs of four assists and seven points this season in a 12-7 win over Alfred.
Scicchitano earns Empire 8 accolades for the first time in her three-year stint with the program. She ended the campaign with 31 ground balls, 30 draw controls, 18 caused turnovers, and seven goals.
In Empire 8 Conference play, she recorded the most draws (19) of any league defender and tied for the most caused turnovers (12). She was also third among E8 defenders in ground balls (19).
Scicchitano had a breakout game in the team's Empire 8 opener at Utica in which she notched a career-high seven caused turnovers and tied for a career-best with nine ground balls. She added five draws in the game.
Over her three-year career, Scicchitano has scored 48 goals and dished out six assists for 54 points. She has 90 draw controls, 78 ground balls, and 42 caused turnovers.
Kennedy becomes the first Hartwick athlete (male or female) in any sport to be selected to the Empire 8 Sportsperson of the Year team four times. She tied LaVaute this season for a team-best 25 goals. She was second on the team in points (27), ground balls (38), third in draws (31), and netted a career-high six goals against New Paltz in March.
Kennedy's 25 goals and 27 points were the most in any of her four seasons. She caps her career with 75 goals, 17 assists, and 92 points. She also registered 92 ground balls, 76 draw controls, and 24 caused turnovers.
