Jack McCormack '61 earned 10 varsity letters in three sports in the late 1950s and early 1960s at Hartwick. He was a four-year letter winner and a captain in men's soccer, lettered three years and served as a captain in men's basketball, and earned three letters in baseball.

An all-state honoree in soccer in 1959, McCormack set a College record with 16 goals while helping Hartwick to an 8-1 record. His 16 goals remains tied for 9th in single season scoring in Hartwick history over 50 years later. He left Hartwick as the all-time leading scorer with 29 goals and currently ranks 15th.

On the basketball court, McCormack averaged 11.8 points per game to lead the program to a record of 12-6 in the 1959-60 season. He improved his offensive production to an 18.1 points per game average his senior season as he helped the team to a mark of 14-4 (.778). It marked the highest winning percentage of any Hartwick basketball team in 15 years.

On the baseball diamond, McCormack finished up his career with an impressive batting average of over .350.

'Wick's basketball coach in 1961 Bob Sonstroem said of McCormack, "Jack was one of the finest backcourt men and one of the finest leaders any college team could hope for."
