Keith Van Eron '77, a Huntington, NY native, helped the Hartwick men's soccer program to four consecutive NCAA Division I Tournaments from 1973-1976, including two third-place finishes at the Final Four.
In his sophomore season, he played in 12 games in goal recording a goals against average of just 0.88, while leading the team to a 10-4-3 mark and a spot in the NCAA Semifinals.
In his senior campaign, Van Eron shattered the Hartwick record for shutouts with 10 in 18 games, compiled 100 saves, and guided the team to an unbeaten regular season, an NCAA Final Four appearance, and a final record of 16-1-1.
For his efforts in the 1976 season, Van Eron was tabbed a Third Team All-American. Following graduation, Van Eron embarked on a very successful American professional career that spanned over a decade.
He played one season in the American Soccer League, three in the North American Soccer League, and 11 in the Major Indoor Soccer League.
Van Eron led the Baltimore Blast to the MISL Championship in 1984 and he was named the league's Goalkeeper of the Year in 1986. In 2008, he was inducted to the Baltimore Blast Hall of Fame.
