Lindy Crea '07, a Binghamton, NY native, is one of the most decorated Hartwick football players in the long history of the program.
Crea, a running back and kick returner for the Hawks from 2003-2007, was a three-time Football Gazette First Team All-America, as well as a three-time All-Region and three-time Empire 8 Conference honoree. In both the 2005 and 2006 seasons, Crea led the country in all-purpose yards per game, finishing as Division III statistical champion in the category.
In his final season with the Hawks, he helped the team to an 8-3 year, which was tied for 2nd all-time in season victories. That same season, ’Wick also won its first Empire 8 Conference title and made its first NCAA Tournament appearance.
Crea finished his career with 7,478 all-purpose yards, which is a College record. He ranks in the top three in rushing yards (3,409), rushing touchdowns (38), kickoff return yards (1,843), and kickoff return yards for touchdown (3) in the Hartwick record books.
At the time of induction, Crea still ranked 8th in NCAA Division III history in both career all-purpose yards and all-purpose yards per game (196.8). Crea was the 4th collegiate player in the history of the NCAA to rush for over 2,000 yards and receive for over 2,000 yards. The three previous players to accomplish the feat, Darrin Nelson, Brian Westbrook, and Mewelde Moore, all had long careers in the National Football League.
