Kleso had an exceptional championship meet in Ithaca this past weekend as he swam to an NCAA “A” cut time, three “B” cuts, and four records. Individually, he won state and conference titles while setting championship and Hartwick records with an “A” cut time of 4:29.64 in the 500 free. Kleso took Empire 8 second team honors in the 100 breast with a “B” cut time 57.00 which was also the second-fastest effort in Hartwick history. He took third in the 1650 free with yet another “B” cut time (16:00.05). In relay events, he combined with his teammates for three Hartwick records as well as another NCAA qualifying standard. He was a part of the 400 free relay team which earned second team conference honors and Hartwick and championship meet records (3:02.82). In the 400 medley relay, Kleso and his teammates secured a “B” cut time (3:25.01), and the 200 medley relay team earned a Hartwick record time of 1:33.42.
