Our Mission:
Hartwick College's DEI Committee, composed of representatives from the Department of Athletics and the faculty, exists to promote the social-justice causes of diversity, equity and inclusion through initiatives and conversations with, as well as support provided to, student-athletes, coaches, and professional staff, and by extension to the Hartwick College community.
Our Purpose/Vision:
The DEI committee will promote diversity, equity and inclusion through initiatives and conversations with student-athletes, coaches, and professional staff. Through focused conversations, we will be a resource for educating and empowering our community, inviting its members to engage in discussions about racial injustice, LGBTQ+ rights, gender equity, religious beliefs, cultural issues and more. DEI Committee members are committed to the goal of encouraging student-athletes and professional staff to think deeply about the meaning of “diversity,” “equity,” and “inclusion”; of providing support to those seeking guidance in addressing a specific situation; and of advancing the cause of social justice on the Hartwick College campus, and beyond. In this way, the DEI Committee will establish Athletics as a safe space in which community members can emerge into their best and most civic-minded selves.
