The all-time winningest coach in program history, Nick Lambros enters his 13th season as an assistant coach. Lambros has been affiliated with Hartwick as both a player and coach for over 60 years.

Lambros coached the men’s program for 21 seasons from 1977 to 1998. He compiled a record of 353-191. During his coaching tenure, he guided five of Hartwick’s seven basketball All-Americans in Dana Gahres (1977 and 1978), Jerry Fullmer (1979), Tim O’Brien (1983), Jerry O’Grady (1984), and Joe Britton (1992).

He was named the NCAA Division II Coach of Year in 1979 and was the NCAA Division III Coach of the Year in 1988. Lambros has seven NCAA Tournament appearances to his credit and led Hartwick to the Final Four in 1988. In addition, he coached his teams to seven 20-win seasons and to seven ECAC Tournament appearances.

Lambros was the first inductee into the Hartwick College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1995. He was also inducted into the New York State Basketball Hall of Fame in 2004.

Lambros started as an assistant for Roy Chipman from 1971-1977. Hartwick combined for a 137-40 record and five appearances in the NCAA Division II playoffs in that span.

Prior to returning to Hartwick, he was a highly successfully basketball coach at Oneonta High School. A native of Oneonta, Lambros is a 1959 graduate of Hartwick and was a four-year starter in both basketball and baseball.
