Swimming and Diving Teams Roll to Wins Over Cazenovia, Cobleskill

ONEONTA, NY - Hartwick's men's and women's swimming and diving teams each picked up wins over visiting Cazenovia and Cobleskill on Saturday at Moyer Pool. The 'Wick men defeated Caz 124-32 and Cobleskill 124-34, while the women's team downed the Wildcats 111-78 and the Tigers 111-36.

Sophomore Kaird Durocher (Bethlehem, PA) and freshman Kenny Kleso (Milford, PA) led the men's squad earning 20.75 points each on the day. Durocher earned first-place finishes in the 50 freestyle (22.96) and 100 freestyle (51.20) and teamed with William MacElveen (Poughkeepsie, NY), Cody Cupit (Nacogdoches, TX), and Lydon Schultz (Mount Pleasant, SC) for a victory in the 200 free relay. Kleso took top billing in the 1000 free (10:28.72) and the 100 breaststroke (1:01.39) and combined with Phillips, Goble and Chris Willcox (Dresher, PA) in the 200 medley relay.

Freshman Travis Bueno (Clifton Park, NY) pulled in 18 points and junior Eric Goble (Bellefontaine, OH) and sophomore Michael Phillips (Austin, TX) each contributed 15.75 points on the day.

The women were paced by a trio of sophomores - Stephanie Ha (Everett, WA), Robyn Smith (Jupiter, FL), and Sam McFarland (Derry, PA). Each swimmer earned 20.75 points on the afternoon.

Ha won the 200 individual medley (2:17.42) and 100 fly (1:00.13), Smith earned firsts in the 50 free (26.55) and the 100 backstroke (1:04.92), and McFarland won the 100 free (57.00) and 200 free (2:05.15).

Ha and Smith teamed with Whitney Fletcher (Superior, CO) and Kristen Grunert (Oakland, CA) to win the 200 medley relay. McFarland also earned a victory in the 200 free relay with teammates Shannan Lambert (Gardner, MA), Erin Holladay (Everett, WA) and Madeline Quick (Jaffrey, NH).

Hartwick's swimming and diving teams return to Moyer Pool next Saturday at 1 p.m. against Utica College.
