ONEONTA, NY – Hartwick travels to Akron, OH tomorrow for a battle with the top-ranked team in the country. The Hawks are wrapping up the regular season and their Mid-American Conference schedule.
A victory for the Hawks would sew up the second seed in the MAC Tournament. A loss, coupled with a Western Michigan win over Buffalo would give 'Wick the third seed and a date with the Broncos in the semifinals.
The Zips are perfect in 2009 and have rolled through the season with a 17-0-0 record. Akron has given up just four goals in 17 games. Teal Bunbury leads the team with 15 goals on the year and has 33 points. Darlington Nagbe has added eight tallies. Michael Nanchoff and Blair Gavin each have five goals. Nanchoff also leads the team with nine assists. David Meves has played in over 1481 minutes in goal, has 11 clean sheets, and a goals against average of 0.24.
The Hawks have a 1-4-2 record against the Zips all-time. Last season in the MAC semifinals, the two teams played to a 1-1 draw before the Zips advanced in a shootout.
