Late Goal Pushes Naz Past Field Hockey 1-0

            ONEONTA, NY – Nina Fargnoli scored her first goal of the season with seven minutes remaining in the game to power Nazareth College over host Hartwick College today, 1-0. The Golden Flyers improve to 4-7 overall and 2-2 in the Empire 8. With the loss, the Hawks slip to 3-10 overall, and are eliminated from conference playoff contention.
            After 63 minutes of scoreless action, Fargnoli broke a 0-0 deadlock by beating Hartwick goalie Mackenzie Chapman (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) on a shot from three yards out. Kailee O'Hara collected her 6th assist of the season after she redirected teammate Lindsay Smith's ball that was played in from the circle.
            After the Naz goal, the Hawks pressed for the tying goal in the final 6:36. 'Wick took four penalty corners in the span and had two shots. Kelsey Kimble (Dingmans Ferry, PA/Delaware Valley) had a shot from in close blocked and Amanda Barton (Endwell, NY/Greene) had a blast kicked away by Golden Flyer goalie Kelsey Evans. Hartwick drew two penalty corners in the final 30 seconds of the match, but were unable to generate a shot.
            Nazareth held a 10-6 shot advantage and collected 10 penalty corners to the Hawks' five over the course of the match. Kelsey Evans picked up four saves for the Golden Flyers and Chapman made five saves in the net for Hartwick.
            Hartwick faces off against cross-town rival Oneonta State next Tuesday, October 19th at 7:00 p.m.
