ONEONTA, NY - SUNY Geneseo scored one goal in the first half and added another pair in the second to defeat host Hartwick College today, 3-1, at Wright Stadium.
Three different Knights registered goals on the day as the Blue Knights improved to 14-1 overall. The Hawks fall to 4-11 with the loss.
Geneseo opened the scoring in the 22nd minute as sophomore Katie Gallo directed a pass to senior Michelle Milkovich, who earned her 14th goal of the season. The Blue Knights finished the opening half with a 6-0 edge in shots.
The score remained 1-0 until 6:14 of the second half when Katie Farley blasted a long ball to the far side of the cage for a two goal Knight lead. Seven minutes later, freshman Bridget McGovern collected a loose ball in front of the cage and put it away for the visitors' third tally.
With 59 seconds remaining in the game, sophomore Kelsey Kimble (Dingmans Ferry, PA/Delaware Valley) dribbled through two Geneseo defenders and put the ball behind Geneseo goalie Caitlyn Dowell to score Hartwick's lone goal and breakup the shutout bid. Kimble leads the Hawks with six tallies this year.
