ONEONTA, NY - The men's and women's swimming and diving teams cruised to victories over Cazenovia and Cobleskill this afternoon at Moyer Pool with Hawk athletes winning all 32 events on the day. The Hartwick women defeated Caz 140-73 and Cobleskill 140-71, while the men downed the Wildcats 135-79 and the Fighting Tigers 136-40.

The women's team was led by Stephanie Ha (Everett, WA), who broke a 22-year old pool record in the 50-yard butterfly and won a team-best three individual races. Ha swam the 50-fly in 26.99 seconds to smash the 1988 record of 27.41 set by RIT. She also earned wins in the 100 fly (1:00.40) and the 200 individual medley (2:15.79).

Junior Robyn Smith (Jupiter, FL), sophomore Whitney Fletcher (Superior, CO), and freshman Lindsay Bowker (Bothell, WA) each won two events for the Hawks. Smith took the 50 back (30.98) and the 100 back (1:01.32). Fletcher earned top billing in the 50 breast (33.29) and 100 breast (1:12.47). Bowker was tops in both diving events earning a score of 183.14 in the 1-meter event and 184.27 in the 3-meter competition.

Sophomore Kelly Shanley (Rockville Center, NY), junior Sam McFarland (Derry, PA), junior Kristie Grunert (Oakland, CA), sophomore Erin Holladay (Everett, WA), and freshman Sarah Uminski (Falmouth, ME) each secured first-place finishes on the day as well.

Five Hartwick men secured 11 of the Hawks' 14 individual victories at the meet. Junior Michael Phillips (Austin, TX) paced the squad with three wins in the 50 breast (28.79), 100 breast (1:02.78), and 200 IM (2:02.53). Sophomore Josh McNorton (Sanford, NC) won the distance events. He took the 1000 freestyle (10:24.50) and the 500 free (5:04.37.)

Senior Jon Stein (Falmouth, ME), junior Josh Morey (Gloversville, NY), and freshman Trey Ostrom (Oxford, NY) also were double winners. Stein won the 100 fly (55.32) and 50 fly (25.67). Morey was first in both diving events with a score of 192.89 in 1-meter diving and 173.47 in the 3-meter event. Ostrom was first in the 200 free (1:51.89) and then the 100 free (50.35).

Senior Eric Goble (Bellefontaine, OH) also was first in the 100 backstroke in 57.74. Junior Kaird Durocher (Bethlehem, PA) took top honors in the 50 free (23.04) and William MacElveen (Poughkeepsie, NY) won the 50 backstroke event (26.32).

Hartwick's swimming and diving teams hit the road for the first time in 2010 as they face Utica next Saturday at 1 p.m.
