#7 Skidmore Overpowers Hawks

            SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – Senior Christine Kemp's four goals lifted nationally seventh ranked Skidmore College over visiting Hartwick College this afternoon, 7-0. Hartwick falls to a 4-12 overall record while the Thoroughbreds have won 14 straight to go to 15-1 overall.
 
           In the first half, Skidmore got on the board nine minutes into the game when Kemp dribbled into the circle, and fired a shot past Hartwick goalie, Mackenzie Chapman (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna). At the 15:25 mark, Claire Superak passed the ball to teammate Katie Potter who turned and fired the ball to the back of the cage for a two-goal lead. With three minutes remaining in the half, Kemp deflected a loose ball past Chapman to enter intermission up 3-0.
           
The Thoroughbreds' offense continued applying pressure when Brittany O'Brien scored the fourth tally of the game 22 seconds into the second half. Kemp continued her scoring streak, earning the next two markers for Skidmore. Lauren Tobias closed out the scoring with eight minutes left in the game.
           
For the game, the Thoroughbreds out-shot the Hawks 29-1, and owned a 14-2 advantage in penalty corners.  Chapman finished with ten saves, and Megan Campbell (Rutland, MA/Wachusett Reg.) made three saves in the final 31:07.
            Hartwick College will host their final game of the season against Empire 8 opponent Ithaca College on Saturday, October 30th at 12:00 p.m.
