ONEONTA, NY- The men's and women's swimming and diving teams were both victorious in a quad meet with the College of St. Rose, SUNY Cobleskill, and Cazenovia on Saturday afternoon at Moyer Pool.
The men defeated Cazenovia 140-57, SUNY Cobleskill 140-55, and St. Rose 130-83. The big winner was Michael Phillips (Austin, TX/James Bowie) who won the 200 IM in 2:01.02, the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.96, and the 200 freestyle in 1:44.27. The freestyle time broke the Moyer Pool record of 1:44.89 set by Chris Maiello in 2001.
Kenny Kleso (Milford, PA/Delaware Valley) won the 1000 freestyle in a time of 10:02.38 and the 500 freestyle in 4:51.51. Brad Ranson (Pennington, NJ/Hopewell Valley) also won two races as he claimed the 100 freestyle in a time of 48.99 and the 50 freestyle in 22.29, which was just .04 seconds ahead of St. Rose swimmer Alex Sedik.
Cody Cupit (Nacodoches, TX/Nacodoches) won the 100 backstroke in 54.93 and Miles Blaney (New York, NY/NYC Lab School) won the 100 butterfly in a time of 54.24. Cupit, Kleso, Blaney, and Kaird Durocher (Bethlehem, PA/Southern Lehigh) were part of the winning 200 medley relay team which swam the race in 1:39.82.
Joshua Morey (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville) was a winner in the one-meter and three-meter dives with scores of 224.20 and 198.15, respectively.
The women were victorious over Cazenovia 175-52, SUNY Cobleskill 175-50, and St. Rose 135-103. Stephanie Ha (Everett, WA/Henry M. Jackson) won two races for the Hawks as she claimed the 200 IM in 2:14.35 and the 100 backstroke in 1:02.55. Justine Woodend (Visalia, CA/Mayfield (NY) also won two events as she was a victor in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.19 and the 100 freestyle in a time of 55.26.
Jade Woodend (Visalia, CA/Mayfield (NY) claimed victory in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:02.21. Kaitlyn Campbell (Hanover Park, IL/Glenhard North) won the 200 freestyle in 2:00.64. The team of Ha, Jade and Justine Woodend, and Clare Nelson (South Hadley, MA/South Hadley) won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:53.57.
Lindsey Bowker (Bothwell, WA/Inglemoor) was a winner of the one- and three- meter dives with scores of 187.30 and 191.25, respectively.
Hartwick's teams, which are both 3-0, will host Utica next Saturday at 1 p.m. at Moyer Pool.
