Records Fall as Hartwick Swimming and Diving Defeats Nazareth

ROCHESTER, NY- The men's and women's swimming and diving teams kept their seasons perfect as they defeated Empire 8 rival Nazareth on Saturday afternoon. In the process they also broke four records on the day.

The men won by the score of 179-98. Chris Willcox (Dresher, PA/Upper Dublin) was the big winner for the Hawks as he won the 200 Butterfly (2:13.13), 100 butterfly (1:00.59), and the 200 IM (2:19.02). Jeremy Torres (Poulsbo, WA/Central Kitsap) won two races as he claimed victory in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.79) and 200 breaststroke (2:37.91) his first collegiate wins. Cody Cupit (Nacogdoches, TX/Nacogdoches) also won two races in the 100 backstroke (1:01.31) and the 200 freestyle (2:17.51).

Miles Blaney (New York, NY/NYC Lab School) set a pool record in the 800 freestyle with a time of 8:44.11. Michael Phillips (Austin, TX/James Bowie) won the 400 freestyle with a time of 4:16.98. Kenny Kleso (Milford, PA/Delaware Valley) took the 200 freestyle in 1:59.98. Brad Ranson (Pennington, NJ/Hopewell Valley) was the winner of the 50 freestyle with a winning time of 24.29 and Lydon Schultz (Mount Pleasant, SC/Bishop England) won the 100 freestyle in 54.78.

The 200 meter relay team of Cupit, Kleso, Wilcox, and Schultz won in a time of 1:49.93. Ranson, Phillips, Kaird Durocher (Bethlehem, PA/Southern Lehigh), and Schultz teamed up to win the 200 free relay in a time of 1:39.34 and set a new pool record.

Joshua Morey (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville) won both the one-meter and three meter dives. His scores were 242.75 in the one meter and 225.20 in the three meter.

The women won by the score of 199-99. Stephanie Ha (Everett, WA/Henry M. Jackson) and Gwen Mathias (Sunland, CA/Southwestern Academy) both won three races for the Hawks. Ha won the 100 backstroke (1:08.72), 100 butterfly (1:07.16), and the 200 IM (2:29.38) while Mathias claimed the 800 freestyle (9:46.13), 200 backstroke (2:28.69), and 400 freestyle (4:45.33). Jade Woodend (Visalia, CA/Mayfield (NY) was victorious in the 50 freestyle with a time of 27.45 which set a new pool record. Her sister Justine was the winner of the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:00.60. Sam McFarland (Derry, PA/Derry) claimed the 200 freestyle in a time of 2:13.88 and Clare Nelson (South Hadley, MA/South Hadley) won the 200 breaststroke in 2:465.74.

The 200 freestyle relay team of both Woodends, McFarland, and Kaitlyn Campbell (Hanover Park, IL/Glenbard North) were the victors with a time of 1:52.29 which was also a new pool record.

Lindsay Bowker (Bothell, WA/Inglemoor) won both the one and three meter dives. She had scores of 208.80 in the one meter and 211.65 in the three meter dive.

\Hartwick will return home to host cross-city rival Oneonta next Saturday at 1 p.m.
