HOBOKEN, NJ- The Hartwick field hockey team faced Empire 8 Conference leader Stevens and despite a 1-0 lead, the host Ducks scored two unanswered goals to hold on for a 2-1 victory on Saturday morning.  The loss drops the Hawks to 6-7 overall and 3-2 in Empire 8 while Stevens improves to 10-5 and 6-0 in the Empire 8.

Despite Stevens leading in shots 14-1 in the first half, the two teams battled to a scoreless tie at halftime.

The game would remain scoreless for the first 7:18 of the second half until Kelsey Kimble (Dingmans Ferry, PA/Delaware Valley) scored on a breakaway to put the Hawks up 1-0.

The lead would be short-lived as a little over two minutes later, Stevens' Jill Fiebel put a shot in front of the goal that Dailyn Brook redirected in past Hawk goalkeeper Megan Campbell (Rutland, MA/Wachusett Regional). Brook would then assist Biebel on the game-winning goal in the 54th minute.

Campbell had 12 saves in goal for the Hawks which matched a season-high. Kaitlin McClymont had one save for Stevens.

The Ducks outshot the Hawks 25-4 with all four of Hartwick's shots coming from Kimble. Stevens also led in penalty corners, 17-5.

Hartwick returns home to face Oneonta State on Tuesday afternoon at Wright Stadium. The game is slated to start at 7 p.m.
