Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Teams Defeat Oneonta State

Brad Ranson won two events while Gwen Mathias won three events for Hartwick
ONEONTA, NY- The Hartwick men's and women's swimming and diving teams kept both of their records unblemished at 5-0 as the Hawks defeated cross-city rival Oneonta State on Saturday afternoon at Moyer Pool. The men won 157 -84 and the women won 140-101.

On the men's side, Luke Grunewald (New Windsor, NY), Brad Ranson (Pennington, NJ), and Chris Willcox (Dresher, PA) all won two events each to lead Hartwick. Grunewald won both the 1000 (10:01.91) and the 500 free (4:51.31) events. Ranson was first in the 200 (1:48.74) and the 100 free (48.03). Willcox came in first in the 400 IM (4:2057) and the 200 fly (1:58.90).

Lydon Schultz (Mt. Pleasant, SC) won the 50 free in 21.88 and Jeremy Torres (Poulsbo, WA) touched the wall first in the 200 breast (2:13.84).

The 400 free relay team of Schultz, Eric Moore (Dallas, PA), Matt Behn (Windsor, NY), and Ranson came in on top with a time of 3:17.80. The 400 medley relay squad of Cody Perez (Miami, FL), Kenny Kleso (Milford, PA), Willcox, and Schultz won in 3:36.20.

For the second straight week, Gwen Mathias (Sunland, CA) led the Hartwick women with three wins. Mathias won the 400 IM (4:51.03), the 1000 free (10:57.78), and the 500 free (5:25.65).

Jade Woodend (Visalia, CA) picked up two wins on the afternoon. Woodend won the 100 free (54.89) and the 50 free (25.29).

Other first-place finishers for Hartwick included Kaitlyn Campbell (Hanover Park, IL) in the 200 free (2:00.28) and Clare Nelson (South Hadley, MA) in the 200 breast (2:31.05).

The 400 medley relay team, led by Imma Rutigliano (Tillson, NY), Nelson, Woodend, and Campbell, came in first in a time of 4:12.17. Rutigliano, Rhianna Blake (Gales Ferry, CT), Sarah Uminski (Falmouth, ME), and Erin Holladay (Everett, WA) were on the winning 400 free relay team as they were victorious with a time of 3:49.21.

Lindsay Bowker (Bothell, WA) won the three-meter dive with a score of 224.50.

Both teams head on the road tomorrow afternoon as Hartwick faces RPI at 1 p.m.
