Kelsey Kimble (Dingmans Ferry, PA/Delaware Valley) scored twice and
Megan Campbell (Rutland, MA/Wachusett Regional) recorded her second shutout of the season as the Hartwick field hockey team defeated St. John Fisher 4-0 on Saturday afternoon at Wright Stadium. With the win, the Hawks improve their record to 5-4 overall and 3-1 in the Empire 8 to move into second place in the conference. The Cardinals fall to 4-7 overall and 2-2 in the Empire 8.
The Hawks dominated in every facet of the game as they put up 12 shots to Fisher's two. Kimble scored her first goal of the game 3:42 into the first half when her shot from the top of the circle banked into the left corner of the goal. Later in the 29th minute,
Katie Lonsky (Dingmans Ferry, PA/Blair Academy) went top shelf over Cardinal goalkeeper Danielle Famolaro to make it 2-0 'Wick. The Hawks scored their third goal at the end of the half on a penalty stroke from Kimble.
The second half played out much like the first as the Hawks held the Cardinals to zero shots. In the 44
th minute,
Hiliary Carlson (Foxboro, MA/Foxboro) scored her first goal of the season when she nailed a shot from the right corner of the goal to put Hartwick ahead 4-0 and complete the scoring in the game.
Campbell had only one save in goal for the Hawks. Famolaro started for the Cardinals and made three saves in 48:35 of game time. She was replaced by Kellie Redmond who stopped one shot in 21:25.
Besides leading in shots, the Hawks had a 13-4 advantage in penalty corners.
Hartwick will head on the road to face non-conference opponent Manhattanville on Wednesday afternoon. Game time will be at 4 p.m.
