ONEONTA, NY- Hartwick field hockey trailed Oneonta 1-0 at halftime but the host Red Dragons scored three times in the second period to come out with a 4-0 win on Tuesday evening. The loss drops the Hawks to 4-10 overall while Oneonta State improves to 10-4.

Sara Rattigan scored twice to lead O-State. Kelcy Forbragd had one goal and two helpers. Andrea Day had a goal and an assist.

Hartwick controlled possession in the opening moments of the contest. Following her own penalty corner, Holley Reynolds (Walton, NY/Walton) nearly scored to give the Hawks the early lead but her shot went off of the post.

Oneonta had chances to score but stellar play from 'Wick goalie Shannon Carter (Falls Church, VA/J.E.B. Stuart) kept the Red Dragons off of the scoreboard. O-State finally broke through in the 28th minute when Forbragd passed to Rattigan in front of the goal for a tip-in to give the Red Dragons a 1-0 lead going into the half.

In the second period, O-State quickly increased its lead to 2-0 just over three minutes into the frame on a goal by Day. Goals by Forbragd in the 53rd minute and Rattigan in the 60th minute completed the scored in the game.

Carter stopped eight shots in the Hartwick cage. Jilian Sabatino (Boonton, NJ/Boonton) came in to relieve her late in the second half and did not record a save. Tess Tracy did not face a shot for Oneonta State.

The Red Dragons had a wide lead in shots, 18-3. O-State had a slim advantage in penalty corners, 5-4.

Hartwick returns to Empire 8 play when it will go against St. John Fisher on Saturday. Game time will be at 11 a.m.
