ONEONTA, NY- Kelly Kramer's (Royersford, PA/Villa Maria Academy) goal in the 64th minute was all that Hartwick field hockey needed as it held on to defeat visting Houghton 1-0 on Saturday afternoon at Wright Stadium. The Hawks, who snap a three-game winless streak, improve to 5-11 on the season while the Highlanders fall to 4-11.

The game was scoreless in the first half. The Hawks had a couple of chances in the first 1:34 of the period but both of Jessica Ott's (Katonah, NY/John Jay) shots were denied by Houghton goalie Emily Thompson.

Hartwick controlled possession throughout most of the second half. The Hawks continued to attack the Houghton zone but could not break through. Kramer ended the tie when she put away a shot from the left side of the cage past Thompson and in to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead.

The Highlanders had opportunities in the final minutes of the game. Tatum McLeod had a pair of shots denied by Hartwick goalie Shannon Carter (Falls Church, VA/J.E.B. Stuart). Jenna Newcombe's shot with 13 seconds to play went wide of the goal and out of play and the Hawks would come away with the victory.
