ITHACA, NY- The Hartwick field hockey team wrapped up its 2013 season with an Empire 8 conference game at Ithaca. The Hawks scored first but the Bombers tallied three scores in the second half en route to a 3-1 victory on Saturday afternoon.

The game was scoreless for nearly the entire first half. With the clock showing 00:00, the Hawks were granted a penalty corner opportunity. Holley Reynolds (Walton, NY/Walton) took the corner and passed to Megan Lefeber (Riverton, CT/Northwestern) who then dished off to Meghan Fay (Foxboro, MA/Foxboro) and Fay was able to fight through a scrum and poke the ball into the cage to give Hartwick a 1-0 lead at halftime.

The Hawks' lead would be brief as the Bombers scored just under four minutes into the second period to tie the game at 1-all. The score remained tied for nearly 18 minutes of game time until Olivia Salindong scored off a penalty corner from Lindsay Flanagan to put IC ahead 2-1 in the 57th minute.

Following a Hartwick timeout, the Hawks were able to get possession into the Ithaca zone. Mikaelan Stuligross' (Walton, NY/Walton) shot at 59:09 would be denied by Bomber goalie Katie Lass. 'Wick was granted a penalty corner opportunity as Reynolds found Hiliary Carlson (Foxboro, MA/Foxboro) but Carlson's shot would be blocked. The Bombers added a third goal in the 68th minute to end the scoring on the day.

IC had a significant advantage in shots over the Hawks, 26-5, and in penalty corners, 18-4. Shannon Carter (Falls Church, VA/J.E.B. Stuart) stopped 10 shots for the Hawks in goal while Lass had just one.

Hartwick ends its season with a record of 5-13 and 1-6 in the Empire 8. Today's game marked the final one for the careers of seniors Reynolds, Lefeber, Carlson, Catie Santaniello (West Islip, NY/West Islip), and Katie Monbaron (Southington, CT/Southington).
