ALFRED, NY – Hartwick's women's swimming and diving team defeated Alfred on Saturday on the road by a final count of 159-125 to improve to 5-9 on the season. The Hawks won a total of seven races on the day in the team victory.
Sophomore
Morgan Riggins (Austin, TX/Dripping Springs) led Hartwick with two individual wins. She also combined for another in a relay event. Riggins won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:14.18. She also was victorious in the 200 breaststroke in 2:40.94.
Riggins teamed with
Ally Agate (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg),
Maddy Hayes (Eagan, MN/Eagan), and
Imma Rutigliano (Tillson, NY/John A. Coleman) to take the 200 medley relay in 1:57.37.
Kaitlyn Campbell (Bartlett, IL/Glenbard North) also won two events for Hartwick. She finished first in the 1000 free (11:15.18) and the 200 butterfly (2:24.41).
Agate and Rutigliano also earned victories against the Saxons. Agate placed first in the 200 back in a time of 2:17.89. Rutigliano took the top spot in the 200 IM (2:16.65).
Hartwick stays on the road next weekend as it visits St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY next Saturday.
