Allie Ricci (Millstone, NJ/St. John Vianney) scored a pair of goals and
Hanna Konash (Stowe, MA/Nashoba Regional) added a goal and an assist as Hartwick defeated Elmira 4-0 on Saturday on Elmore Field.
The game marked Hartwick's Senior Day with graduating scholar athletes
Kristen McKasty (Bohemia, NY/Connetquot),
Abby Wheeler (Chatham, NY/Chatham),
Cami Cleaveland (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta), and
Allyson Daniels (Pembroke, NH/Pembroke) being honored prior to the game.
The Hawks dominated the first half from start to finish, registering the first 19 shots of the half. Ricci gave 'Wick the lead in the 32
nd minute. Konash drew a defender and delivered a pass to a wide open Ricci. She collected the ball and fired past Amanda Banner for a 1-0 lead.
Hartwick would break the game open with two goals 3:25 apart early in the second half.
Sierra Bentley (Worcester, NY/Schenevus) set up Ricci in front and she buried her chance to give the Hawks a two-goal advantage.
Kiley Richardson (Flanders, NJ/Roxbury) made it 3-0 Hartwick. She hammered her free kick from 40 yards away into the box. The ball made its way through traffic and into the Elmira goal for Richardson's second tally of the season.
Konash would close out the scoring in the 76
th minute. She accepted a pass from
Rachel Weir (New Milford, CT/New Milford) and drove her shot over the head of Banner to make it a 4-0 game.
The victory today for the Hawks improves their overall record to 10-3-2. It is the team's first 10-win season since 1995 and the 12
th in program history. Hartwick improves to 3-2-2 in Empire 8 play and remains in the hunt for a conference playoff spot with one game remaining on its schedule at Stevens on October 31.
Megan McGillycuddy (Glenville, NY/Scotia-Glenville) and
Kristen Altieri (Babylon, NY/Babylon) combined for the shutout for Hartwick. McGillycuddy made five saves in the opening 83:27. Aliteri played the final six and a half minutes and was not called upon to make a save.
Hartwick host SUNY Oneonta in a non-conference match on Wednesday, October 28 at 7 p.m.
