ITHACA, NY – Hartwick's swimming and diving teams competed at a tri-meet with Ithaca and Geneseo on Saturday evening. The Hartwick men split with a win over the host Bombers 177-114 and a loss to Geneseo 163-133. The women's team fell to the Bombers 199-100 and the Knights 220-77.
The Hartwick men won eight events on the day, led by
Matt Plunkett (Cooper City, FL/Cooper City) and
Joe Mulvehill's (Penfield, NY/Penfield) doubles. Plunkett grabbed wins in the 100 back (52.85) and the 200 back (1:54.13). Mulvehill took top billing in the 50 free (21.75) and 100 free (47.46).
Ben Detar (Charleston, SC/Hanahan),
Chris Farrell (Charlotte, NC/Rocky River) and
Aron Zhang (Douglaston, NY/Brooklyn Technical) also recorded firsts for the Hawks. Detar won the 200 fly (1:55.20), Farrell took the 1000 free (10:11.11), and Zhang won the 200 IM (1:57.79).
The men's 400 free relay team of Mulvehill,
Brian Edmister III (Belmont, NY/Genesee Valley Central),
David Mauro (Queensbury, NY/Glens Falls), and Plunkett placed first with a time of 3:12.74.
Zhang also took second in the 100 fly (52.32). Farrell placed second in the 500 free (4:56.12). Edmister was runner-up in the 100 back (53.34).

Brendan Day (Westfield, MA/Westfield), Detar, and Mulvehill combined to finsh second in the 200 medley relay.
Imma Rutigliano (Tilson, NY/John A. Coleman) placed first in two events for the Hartwick women's team. She took top honors in the 200 free in 1:58.07 and the 200 IM in 2:12.81. She would also finish in second place in the 500 free (5:22.35).
Ally Agate (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) finished second in the 100 backstroke (1:03.64). She was also fourth in the 200 back (2:18.41).
Eleanor Hanson (White Fish Bay, WI/White Fish Bay) took third in the 200 fly (2:23.10).
The Hawks are off until the Ithaca Invitational which takes place from December 4-6.
