No. 15 St. John Fisher Defeats ’Wick Women’s Lax Team

ONEONTA, NY – Visiting St. John Fisher scored the game's final nine goals to pull away for a 15-2 victory over Hartwick's women's lacrosse team on Sunday at Wright Stadium. The Hawks scored two goals in the first half to pull within four, 6-2, but the Cardinals answered with two to close the half and out-scored 'Wick 7-0 in the second half for the win.
           
The Hawks fall to 4-6 overall and 1-2 in the Empire 8 Conference with the result. The Cardinals, who entered the game ranked fifteenth in the latest IWLCA National Poll, improve to 9-1, and 3-0.
           
Both of Hartwick's goals were scored by Lauren Rosenberg (Smithtown, NY/Commack). She now has 33 tallies on the season. Ashley Werner (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) would assist both of Rosenberg's scores for 'Wick.
           
Megan Young (Gansevoort, NY/Schuylerville) and Sydney Robert (Watertown, NY/South Jefferson) grabbed three ground balls to tie for the team-high. Mattie Coffey (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) and Carleigh Tarala (Tully, NY/Tully) each registered two. Young also had a team-high two draws.
           
Tarala would make 10 saves in the Hawks' goal in the contest. She made nine stops in the first half alone.
           
St. John Fisher's offense was powered by Sierra Badger, Jordan Johnson, Cori Holbrook, and Chrissy Cook, who combined for 11 goals and four assists. Badger led the way with four tallies and one helper.
             
Hartwick plays its next game on Saturday, April 9. The Hawks face the Elmira College Soaring Eagles on the road beginning at 1 p.m.
