ONEONTA, NY – Hartwick scholar-athletes took first in 11 of 16 events on Saturday in a quad meet with St. Rose, Utica, and Cazenovia.
Junior
Aron Zhang (Douglaston, NY/Brooklyn Technical) and sophomore
Yury Chernyak (Sidney, NY/Sidney) each won three individual races for the Hawks. Zhang finished first in the 100 back (55.13), 200 fly (2:03.43), and 200 back (2:00.31) events. Chernyak earned top honors in the 100 breast (59.66), 200 breast (2:12.69), and 200 individual medley (2:04.09).
The duo also combined with
Oleg Gentry (Stamford, CT/Trinity-Pawling) and
Nathan Marshall (St. John's, Antigua and Barbuda/St. Anthony's) to take the 200 medley relay in 1:39.01 in the opening race of the day.
Marshall and
Zach Skelton (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls Lima) finished 1-2 in the 50 free. Marshall touched up in 22.25 with Skelton racing to a time of 23.19.
Ryan McLoughlin (New Windsor, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) won the 200 free in 1:48.84.
Javonte Herbert (Houston, TX/Cy Springs) was first in the 500 free (5:09.28).
Marshall, McLoughlin, Herbert, and
Max Ferrick (Westford, MA/Westford Academy) teamed up for first in the 400 free relay. Their time was 3:20.82.
Hartwick next competes in one week on Saturday, October 28. The Hawks host SUNY New Paltz at Moyer Pool beginning at 1 p.m.
