ONEONTA, NY – Hartwick's women's swimming and diving team took firsts in 11 of 16 events Saturday as the Hawks hosted a quad meet with St. Rose, Utica, and Cazenovia.
Channing Lewis (Canton, OH/Canton McKinley) won three races to lead the Hawks.
Tori Argentieri (East Amherst, NY/Clarence) and
Mikayla Vellenga (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) each won a pair of events.
Lewis placed first in the 1000 free (11:29.59).
Abby Schwartz (Olean, NY/Olean) was second and
Rachel Mumma (Northridge, CA/Granada Hills Charter) took third.
Lewis,
Lauren Cooley (Snohomish, WA/Glacier Peak), and
Ally Schroeder (Plantsville, CT/Southington) finished 1-2-3 in the 200 back. Lewis' time topped the group (2:20.42). Lewis also earned the top time in the 500 free (5:40.69).
Argentieri won the 200 fly and the 200 individual medley. She swam the fly in 2:21.46 and the IM in 2:23.64.
Vellenga swept the diving events. She earned a score of 188.40 in the 1-meter event. Her score of 178.0 in the 3-meter competition also was good enough for first.
Olivia Bart (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) and
Maddy Hayes (Eagan, MN/Eagan) finished first and second, respectively, in the 50 free. Bart's time was 25.95 with Hayes just behind in 26.37.
Emma Reining (Hyde Park, NY/Franklin D. Roosevelt) secured the other Hartwick victory in the 100 fly in 1:02.97. Argentieri was second as the Hawks went 1-2 in the event.
Tori Argentieri (East Amherst, NY/Clarence),
Natalie Athans (Victor, NY/Victor), Reining, and Bart won the 200 medley relay (1:58.29).
Bart, Reining, Schwartz, and Hayes were first in the 400 free relay (3:58.44).
Sierra Garcia (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs), Lewis,
Erin Borgolini (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa), and Cooley took second (4:07.54).
Hartwick next competes in one week on Saturday, October 28. The Hawks host SUNY New Paltz at Moyer Pool beginning at 1 p.m.
