ONEONTA, NY – Hartwick's women's swimming and diving team lost its first competition of the season on Saturday at Moyer Pool with a 158-122 setback. The loss puts the Hawks at 4-1 on the young season.
Hartwick would finish with top points in a total of five events.
Channing Lewis (Canton, OH/Canton McKinley) was first in the 1000 free in 11:23.12.
Abby Schwartz (Olean, NY/Olean) was second with a time of 11:42.95.
'Wick scholar-athletes finished 1-2-3 in the 200 butterfly.
Emma Reining (Hyde Park, NY/Franklin D. Roosevelt) won the race in 2:19.49.
Tori Argentieri (East Amherst, NY/Clarence) took second in 2:20.38 and
Erin Borgolini (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) was third (2:38.36).
Mikayla Vellenga (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) was the lone diver in competition in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events. She scored 186.80 and 150.05, respectively.
The women's team will be away for the first time this season next Saturday at Nazareth. The Hawks and Golden Flyers get underway in Rochester at 1 p.m.
