ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY – Hartwick's men's swimming and diving team improved to 6-3 in dual meets this season with a 142-88 win at Bard College on Saturday. The Hawks would win 12 of 16 events on the day.
Aron Zhang (Douglaston, NY/Brooklyn Technical),
Yury Chernyak (Sidney, NY/Sidney),
Nathan Marshall (St. John's, Antigua and Barbuda/St. Anthony's), and
Oleg Gentry (Stamford, CT/Trinity-Pawling) each recorded firsts in a pair of events for the Hawks.
Zhang captured the 200 free (1:47.87) and 100 free (49.68) events. Chernyak took first in the 100 back (58.83) and 200 breast (2:11.37). Marshall would finish first in both the 50 free (22.54) and 100 fly (57.59). Gentry earned top points in the diving events with a score of 189.98 in the 1-meter and a 200.78 in the 3-meter.
Joey Moffitt (Tunkhannock, PA/Tunkhannock) and
Rowan Poppen-Eagan (Puyallup, WA/Puyallup) also won individual events for 'Wick. Moffitt claimed a victory in the 100 breast (1:03.94) with Poppen-Eagan winning the 500 free (5:06.74).
Max Ferrick (Westford, MA/Westford Academy), Moffitt,
William Eger (Bullville, NY/Minisink Valley), and
Zach Skelton (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls Lima) teamed up to win the 200 medley relay. Their time was 1:47.49. Gentry, Ferrick, Chernyak, and Zhang won the 200 free relay in 1:33.83.
Hartwick is off until it competes in the Ithaca Invitational, which runs from December 1-3.
