ROCHESTER, NY – In its first road meet of the season on Saturday, Hartwick's men's swimming and diving team lost a 181-117 decision to Empire 8 rival Nazareth. Hartwick slips to 4-2 on the season.
Ryan McLoughlin (New Windsor, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) and
Yury Chernyak (Sidney, NY/Sidney) each won two events to lead the Hawks. McLoughlin took first place in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:00.88. He was also first in the 400 free, an event in which the Hawks finished 1-2-3. McLoughlin was first (4:22.84),
Javonte Herbert (Houston, TX/Cy Springs) was second and
Isaac Waide (East Haddam, CT/Nathan Hale-Ray) was third.
Chernyak earned first-place honors in the 100 free in a time of 1:06.29. He also won the 200 breast in 2:23.73. Waide secured the other Hartwick victory on the day. He was first in the 800 free in 9:10.44 with
Rowan Poppen-Eagan (Puyallup, WA/Puyallup) finishing second.
The Hawks next compete on Saturday, November 11 at home against Oneonta State beginning at 1 p.m.
