Hawks Win Third Straight Match With 3-1 Triumph Over St. Bonaventure

ST. BONAVENTURE, NY – Hartwick scored twice in less than an eight-minute span to turn a 1-1 tie into a two-goal Hawks' lead on Saturday night in a 3-1 victory over St. Bonaventure at Marra Athletics Complex. Hartwick, which was playing in its first game away from Elmore Field this season, improved to 3-3 and have now won three straight contests.

Senior Marc Berry (Galashiels, Scotland/Galashiels Academy), freshman Marco Torino (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford HS), and sophomore Kane O'Neill (Lochwinnoch, Scotland/Gryffe) provided the goals for the Hawks on the night. 'Wick improves to 6-0 against the Bonnies all-time.

The Hawks opened the scoring in the 18th minute as Harry Morton (Napier, New Zealand/Te Aho O Te Kura Pounamu) set up Berry for his second goal of the season for a 1-nil advantage. The rest of the half would produce only two shots from each side with Johnny McBeth (Glasgow, Scotland/Upper Iowa University) and Jamie O'Grady (Falkirk, Scotland/Falkirk HS) providing Hartwick's.

'Wick would hold the lead for exactly 45 minutes until Kosi Nwafornso struck for the Bonnies at the 62:20 mark of the match. Kieran Tollan earned the assist on the play.

The game wouldn't stay even for long as the Hawks surged ahead just 6:20 later. Torino would make a run up the right flank and into the box. He put his shot to Bonnies' keeper Luke Iacobellis' left for his first collegiate tally and what would prove to be the game-winner.

O'Neill added to the total with less than 14 minutes to play. A headed clearance from the back from Matt Morrish (Brighton, England/St. Bede's School) sailed over the St. Bonaventure back line and sprung O'Neill on a 50-yard breakaway. He walked in alone with Iacobellis and scored past the keeper's right for his first goal of the season to put the Hawks up 3-1.

The Bonnies had one more shot on target which forced a save from goalkeeper Lenny Wilson (Aberdeen, Scotland/Cults Academy) with a minute and a half left in regulation. The ensuing corner was headed wide and the Hawks closed the door on the win.

Hartwick finished the night with a 12-11 edge in shots, including an 8-6 margin in the second half. Wilson made four saves for the Hawks. Iacobellis stopped one Hartwick shot in the 90 minutes.

The Hawks will look to extend their streak to four games on Tuesday night when they return to Elmore. The Hawks host Siena College beginning at 7 p.m.
