ONEONTA, NY – The Hartwick men's swimming and diving team was in action today at Moyer Pool against Empire 8 foe, Alfred University. The Hawks improved to 8-3 in dual meets this season with a 169.5-128.5 win today. The Hawks won 13 of 16 events on the day.
Aron Zhang (Douglaston, NY/Brooklyn Technical) took home first in three individual events on the day. Zhang captured first in the 100 back (53.06), 200 back (1:58.48), and 100 butterfly (51.90) events.
Yury Chernyak (Sidney, NY/Sidney) also took first in three individual events, capturing the 100 breast (59.57), 200 breast (2:10.80), and 200 IM (2:02.50).
David Mauro (Queenbury, NY/Glens Falls) and
Ryan McLoughlin (New Windsor, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) both finished first in a pair of events. Mauro took the 50 free (22.48) and 100 free (49.93). McLoughlin was tops in the 200 free (1:48.20) and he tied for the top spot in the 500 free (4:52.05).
Max Ferrick (Westford, MA/Westford Academy) won the 200 fly in 2:04.47.
Hartwick swept both relays on the day. Wick won the 400 freestyle relay with a team consisting of Mauro,
Nathan Marshall (St. Johns, Antigua-Barbuda/St. Anthony's), Ferrick, and McLaughlin in a time of 3:19.28. Wick also took first in the 200 medley relay with a team consisting of Zhang, Chernyak, McLoughlin, and Marshall in a time of 1:38.17.
The Hawks will next be in action next on Saturday January 27 at home against WPI in their Senior Recognition/Parent Appreciation meet at 12 p.m. in Moyer Pool.
