ELMIRA, NY – Hartwick had its three-match winning streak snapped on Friday with a 9-0 loss to Houghton. The Hawks fall to 6-2 overall and 4-2 in Empire 8 Conference play with two league matches remaining. The Highlanders are now 6-4 and 3-1 in E8.
In doubles,
John Talbot (Middlesex, NY/Marcus Whitman) and
Nikola Nedeljkovic (Portland, OR/Sunset) were narrowly beaten by their Highlander opponents 8-6.
Nick Adamou (New Milford, CT/New Milford) and
Jack Steinman (North Haven, CT/North Haven) were defeated in the second flight, 8-5.
Tyler Adler (Pittsford, NY/East Rochester) and
Casey Serdiouk (Margaretville, NY/Margaretville Central) lost 8-4 in the third flight.
In first singles, Talbot took seven games from Louis Garcia but fell, 6-4, 6-3. Steinman also dropped a 6-4, 6-3 decision to Jake Fisler in fourth singles.
Hartwick can move closer to an Empire 8 Tournament bid tomorrow with a win against Alfred University. The Hawks and Saxons begin play at 1 p.m. at SUNY Delhi.
