Recap: The Hawks outlasted Elmira 5-4 on Tuesday to even up their Empire 8 Conference record at 2-2. With the score knotted at 4-all, Victoria Wilson (Trenton, NY/Trenton Catholic Academy) gutted out a three-set, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 win at second singles to help the Hawks earn the team victory. The host Soaring Eagles held a 2-1 advantage after doubles play. Bella Mastrion (Greenfield Center, NY/Saratoga Springs) and Skylar Watts (Rome, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherill) combined for an 8-0 win at second doubles for the Hawks' point. Sallie Suski (Glenville, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake), Mastrion, and Watts cruised to wins in singles. Suski won 6-1, 6-0 at first singles. Mastrion won in the third flight, 6-0, 6-2, and Watts swept at fourth singles, 6-0, 6-0 before Wilson closed out the victory.
