Recap: Maria Stalder (New Woodstock, NY/Cazenovia) scored her second goal of the game with just 6:26 left in the game as the Hartwick field hockey team defeated Nazareth 3-2 on Saturday at Wright Stadium. The Hawks were leading comfortably 2-0 but the Golden Flyers scored twice in the second half to tie the game before Stalder's winner. After 25 minutes of scoreless action, Bella Wheeler (Cazenovia, NY/Cazenovia) broke the ice at 26:16 with a goal from Tegan Robinson (Mechanicville, NY/Shenendehowa). Stalder registered her first of the day with 5:40 left in the half off a rebound and the Hawks were up two goals. The half would end with 'Wick holding a 2-0 lead and dominating the action with a 26-0 edge in shots and an 8-0 advantage in penalty corners. Nazareth answered 3:39 into the second half on a tally from Jennifer Hilts. Jessica Livesey then scored 8:27 later and the Golden Flyers drew even. Both teams had chances over the next 15 minutes until Robinson took a shot that was saved by Naz keeper Kimber Nourse. The rebound, however, was cleaned up by Stalder to give the Hawks the lead for good. Nazareth mustered two penalty corners in the dying minutes but the Hawks' defense held them without a shot to preserve the win. 'Wick finished the game out-shooting Naz 36-6. The Hawks also had the edge in corners, 19-3. Allyson Osborne (Nottingham, PA/Solanco) was credited with one save in the Hawks' goal. Nourse closed the game with 21 saves.
