ALBANY, NY – Hartwick (3-11) and Sage (8-7) were tied for over 68 minutes of action, but the host Gators got the game-winner in the 70
th minute and held on for a 2-1 win over the Hawks Friday night at Albany College of Pharmacy Athletic Complex.
The two team played the first 29 and a half minutes of the first half before the first goal came for the hosts. A cross from the left side from Giddel Alvardo was put in by Kevin Winglosky for his fifth tally of the season to give the Gators the edge.
The lead would only last 53 seconds as the Hawks would strike back to even the score.
Joey Bertone (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-DeWitt) would get the goal on a breakaway, which was his third of the season.
The half would end deadlocked. The Gators held a 12-6 edge in shots.
Tyler Muir (Poughquag, NY/Arlington) had three shots for Hartwick.
Jake Zona (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) and

It remained a 1-1 contest through the opening 24:55 with the Gators out-shooting the Hawks by a 4-1 margin in the time frame. The Gators' third corner in the span would produce the goal. Alvarado took the kick and bent it directly into the goal for the lead.
The Hawks had two late chances, both from
Troy Amegashie (Accra, Ghana/Tema International School). He fought through defenders in the box and got a shot on goal but it was right to Gator keeper Lucas Bourdeau with just over two minutes to play. He put another shot wide of the net a minute later for the Hawks' final opportunity.
The match ended with the hosts holding a 20-10 edge in shots. They earned seven corners to the Hawks' four.
