ROCHESTER, NY – Despite winning eight of the day's 16 events, the Hartwick women's swimming and diving team dropped a dual meet at Nazareth College, 168-125. The loss moves the Hawks to 4-2 on the season.
Channing Lewis (Canton, OH/Canton McKinley), Gina Grauer (West Lawn, PA/Wilson), and Tori Argentieri (East Amherst, NY/Clarence) each had a pair of wins on the day.
Lewis took the day's first individual race, the 800 free, with a time of 9:51.46 (followed in second by teammate Abby Schwartz (Olean, NY/Olean) at 9:55.73), and later won the 200 back in 2:33.39. Grauer swiped both breaststroke events, winning the 100 in 1:18.17 and the 200 in 2:50.81. Argentieri was aces on butterfly, winning the 100 in 1:08.37 and the 200 in 2:31.22. Cecelia Mowrey (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) was second in the 200, finishing in 2:36.28
Lewis and Schwartz flipped placements in the 400 free; this time Schwartz took the win, touching up in 4:50.53 compared to Lewis' 4:51.78 second-place mark. The only other Hartwick win on the day went to Abby Miller (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta), who took the 200 free with a time of 2:15.21.
Olivia Bart (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) had a pair of second-place finishes in freestyle events, finishing the 50 free in 27.53 seconds and the 100 free in 1:01.17. Argentieri added a silver to her two golds in the 200 IM, touching up in 2:37.42.
The Hawks return to action next Saturday for a home meet with city rival Oneonta, beginning at 1 p.m. in Moyer Pool.
