ONEONTA, NY – The Hartwick women's swimming and diving team went 2-1 during their home meet in Moyer Pool on Saturday. They defeated SUNY Delhi (182-22) and Utica College (178-56), falling only to the College of Saint Rose (101-153).
The Hawks came in 1-2 in 2 events. Joelle Ocheltree (Libertyville, IL/Libertyville) led the meet with a win in the 1000 freestyle in 11:41.66, the first individual event. She was followed by Abby Miller (Oneonta, Ny/Oneonta), who went 11:52.57. Hartwick also came in 1-2 in the 500 freestyle, where Ocheltree won with a 5:38.71, and Elizabeth Baird (Wilton, NY/Saratoga Springs) came in second with a 5:47.69.
The Hawks had several other wins and second place finishes. Avyanna Chavez-Rodriguez (Rio Rancho, NM/Pecos Connections Academy) won the 50 free with a 25.88. Baird came in second in the 200 freestyle with a 2:08.18, and the 200 back with a 2:25.26. Bree Dy (Matawan, NJ/Bishop George AHR) finished second in the 100 backstroke with a 1:05.46. Miller earned silver in the 200 fly with a 2:33.34 and the 200 IM with a time of 2:28.21. Jacqueline Drown (Columbia, MO/Rock Bridge) came in second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:15.59. The 200 freestyle A and B relays came in second and third respectively, with the A relay consisting of Chavez-Rodriguez, Paige Eaton (East Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy), Ocheltree, and Dy, and the B relay with Baird, Melanie Mohn (Endwell, NY/Maine-Endwell), Meghan Gezcy (Queensbury, NY/Queensburg), and Sam Lassen (Danbury CT/Danbury). Their times were 1:49.14 and 1:58.05, respectively.
The Hawks are back at it in two weeks when they host Empire 8 foe Nazareth College at 1 p.m. on November 6.
