GREENWICH, NY- The Hartwick men's cross country team was in action today at the Empire 8 Cross Country Championships hosted by the Sage College at the Washington County Fairgrounds. The men's team placed fifth after the NCAA tiebreaker was used to split a tie between the Hawks and Utica College. This was the men's cross country teams highest team finish at the Empire 8 Championships since the 2014 season.

Caleb Mallery (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott) finished first for the Hawks and twenty-eighth overall on the flooded eight-kilometer course in a new personal best time of 27:49.1. Freshman
Aidan Freda (Westtown, NY/Minisink Valley) finished next in fortieth with a new personal best time of 28:49.6. Senior Captain
Mark Garceau (Lebanon, NJ/North Hunterdon) was the third Hawk to cross the finish line in forty-fourth place in a season best time of 29:13.4.       Â

Omar Nelson (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) finished in fifty-sixth place in a new personal best time of 30:07.0. Senior
Will May (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park)Â rounded out the Hawks scoring in sixty-eighth place with a season best time of 34:48.3.

Sean Waltman (Sayre, PA/Athens) finished as the Hawks' lone displacer in seventy-fourth place.
The Hawks will conclude the season on Saturday November 13 at the NCAA Niagara Regional Championships hosted by SUNY Geneseo at the National Warplane Museum in Geneseo, NY at 11AM.
