ONEONTA, NY – The Hartwick Swimming and Diving team crushed both SUNY Oneonta with a score of 178-109 and SUNY New Paltz with a score of 178.5-83.5 this Saturday. This brings the Hawks' record to 6-0, SUNY Oneonta to 3-3, and SUNY New Paltz to 1-2.
The Hartwick men won most of the events, starting with the 400 medley relay which consisted of Devin Masongsong (Pleasant Hill, CA/College Park), Colin Leonard (Slingerlands, NY/Bethlehem), Michael Schultz (Binghamton, NY Chenango Valley), and Diallo Marshall (Saint George, Antigua & Barbuda/St. Anthony's).
Next up, in the 100 freestyle, Brady Haraden (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) took gold, followed by Nic Canney (Chandler, AZ/Corona Del Sol) in second. Dawson Tupponce (Phoenix, AZ/Desert Vista) then won the 200 freestyle, followed by Masongsong. Leonard claimed the 100 breaststroke title , followed by Sebastian Knowles (Plano, TX/Plano West Senior). In the 200 butterfly Schultz swept the gold. Marshall won the 50 freestyle, followed by Reid Sinkinson (Telford, PA/Souderton Area).
In the second part of the meet, the Hawks started off strong with a win in the 100 freestyle by Marshall, followed by Masonsong and Sinkinson who tied for second. Leonard won the 200 breaststroke, while Schultz took gold in the 100 butterfly and 200 IM. The men finished the meet off strong with a first place finish in the 400 freestyle, lead off by Marshall, followed by Sinkinson, Tupponce, and Masongsong.
The Hawks are back at it next week when they host Scranton University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
