ONEONTA, NY – The Hartwick women's swimming and diving team beat neighboring SUNY Oneonta with a score of 145 to 137 on Saturday, but fell to SUNY New Paltz 157 to 104 in Moyer Pool. This brings Hartwick's record to 3-3, SUNY Oneonta to 0-6, and New Paltz to 3-0.

The Hawks started off the meet strong with a win in the 1000 freestyle by Joelle Ocheltree (Libertyville, IL/Libertyville), followed by Abby Miller (Oneonta, Ny/Oneonta) in second. Avyanna Chavez-Rodriguez (Rio Rancho, NM/Pecos Connections Academy) won the 100 freestyle. Ocheltree also took gold in the 500 freestyle, whilst teammate Elizabeth Baird (Wilton, NY/Saratoga Springs) came in second.

There were several second place finishes as well. The team consisting of Bree Dy (Matawan, NJ/Bishop George Ahr), Paige Eaton (East Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy), Chavez-Rodriguez, and Miller came in second in the 400 medley relay. Eaton took silver in the 100 breaststroke, followed by Jacqueline Drown (Columbia, MO/Rock Bridge) in third. Chavez-Rodriguez came in second in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly. Eaton also came in second in the 200 breaststroke. Dy earned a silver in the 200 IM.

Coming in third place was Ocheltree in the 200 freestyle. Dy also took bronze in the 100 and 200 backstrokes. The 400 freestyle relay, consisting of Eaton, Baird, Meghan Geczy (Queensbury, NY/Queensburg), and Ocheltree also came in third.

The Hawks are back at it next week when they host Scranton University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
