ONEONTA, NY – The Hartwick men's swimming and diving team defeated Scranton on Saturday in Moyer Pool by a score of 155-101. This brings the Hawks' record to a still unbeaten 7-0, and Scranton's to 3-4.
The Hawks started off strong with a win in the 400 medley relay consisting of Devin Masongsong (Pleasant Hill, CA/College Park), Colin Leonard (Slingerlands, NY/Bethlehem), Michael Schultz (Binghamton, NY Chenango Valley), and Diallo Marshall (Saint George, Antigua & Barbuda/St. Anthony's). Nic Canney (Chandler, AZ/Corona Del Sol) won the 1000 freestyle, followed by Brady Haraden (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa). Dawson Tupponce (Phoenix, AZ/Desert Vista) and Masongsong went 1-2 in the 200 freestyle. Austin Clive (Roslyn NY/Roslyn) won the 100 backstroke, while Leonard won the 100 breaststroke. Sshultz, Tupponce, and Canney took 1-2-3 in the 200 butterfly. Marshall won the 50 freestyle. Gabe Castro (Orlando, FL/Cypress Creek) came in first for both 1m and 3m diving.
In the second half of the meet, the Hawks continued to shine. Marshall won the 100 freestyle. Haraden and Clive came in 1-2 in the 200 backstroke. Leonard and Sam Cole (Albany, NY/Guilderland) came in first and second, respectively, in the 200 breaststroke. Swimming in exhibition from then on, Haraden and Canney came in 1-2 in the 500 freestyle. Schultz swept the 100 butterfly and 200 IM, with Leonard coming in second for the IM. Ending the meet strong was the 200 freestyle relay win consisting of Marshall, Masongsong, Tupponce, and Reid Sinkinson (Telford, PA/Souderton Area).
The Hawks are back at it in two weeks on December 3-5 at the Ithaca College Invitational.
