ONEONTA, NY – The Hartwick women's swimming and diving team fell to visiting Scranton on Saturday in Moyer Pool, by a score of 205-78. This brings Hartwick's record to 3-4, and Scranton's to 7-0.
The Hawks started the meet with a second place finish the 400 medley relay consisting of Bree Dy (Matawan, NJ/Bishop George Ahr), Jacqueline Drown (Columbia, MO/Rock Bridge), Abby Miller (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta), and Avyanna Chavez-Rodriguez (Rio Rancho, NM/Pecos Connections Academy). Joelle Ocheltree (Libertyville, IL/Libertyville) won the 1000 freestyle, and Chavez-Rodriguez claimed second in the 100 backstroke, followed by Dy. Chavez-Rodriguez also took gold in the 50 and 100 freestyles. Dy took second in the 200 backstroke, Drown claimed the silver in the 200 breaststroke, and Ocheltree took second place in the 500 freestyle, followed by Miller. Dy also took silver in the 200 IM.
There were a few third place finishes as well. Elizabeth Baird (Wilton, NY/Saratoga Springs) came in third in the 1000 freestyle. Miller and Ocheltree went 3-4 in the 200 freestyle.
The Hawks are back at it in two weeks on December 3-5 at the Ithaca College Invitational.
