ITHACA, NY – The Hartwick women's swimming and diving team finds itself in 11th place of 11 teams after the first day of the Ithaca Invitational on Friday, as they scored 40 points on the evening.
Joelle Ocheltree (Libertyville, IL/Libertyville) had the best finish for 'Wick, placing 19th in the 500 free with a time of 5:26.14. Elizabeth Baird (Wilton, NY/Saratoga Springs) finished in 27th place in the same event, touching up in 5:31.11.
Avyanna Chavez-Rodriguez (Rio Rancho, NM/Pecos Connections Academy) had a 31st place touch-up in the 50 free, at 26.00, and Jacqueline Drown (Columbia, MO/Rock Bridge) had the only other top-40 finish for the Hawks, at 39th place in the 200 IM with a time of 2:24.27.
A team of Baird, Drown, Chavez-Rodriguez, and Meghan Geczy (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) claimed 10th in the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:00.25.
Day two of the Invitational begins at 10 a.m. tomorrow, with five swimming events scheduled for the morning session, two diving events at 1 p.m., and four more swimming events to round out the day at 6 p.m.
