ITHACA, NY – The Hartwick women's swimming and diving team moved up to tenth place out of 11 teams after the second day of the Ithaca College Invitational on Saturday, finishing the day with 181 points.
Abby Miller (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) had the top finish of the morning session for 'Wick, with a time of 4:55.71 in the 400 IM, good for 13th place. Avyanna Chavez-Rodriguez (Rio Rancho, NM/Pecos Connections Academy) had the next-highest individual finish for the Hawks, at 27th in the 100 fly with a time of 1:03.45.
Elizabeth Baird (Wilton, NY/Saratoga Springs), Bree Dy (Matawan, NJ/Bishop George Ahr), and Joelle Ocheltree (Libertyville, IL/Libertyville) finished 29th, 34th, and 37th in the 200 free results, respectively.
A team of Dy, Jacqueline Drown (Columbia, MO/Rock Bridge), Chavez-Rodriguez, and Miller were 10th in the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:22.81, and Chavez-Rodriguez, Dy, Ocheltree, and Miller were 11th in the 200 free relay, touching up in 1:46.29.
Dy had the top individual finish of the evening session, claiming 16th in the 100 back with a time of 1:01.49. Chavez-Rodriguez was 23rd in that event, at 1:02.31.
The Hawks had a pair of top-25 finishes in the 100 breast; Drown was 23rd (1:12.09) and Paige Eaton (East Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) was 25th (1:12.15).
In the 800 free relay, a team of Ocheltree, Dy, Baird, and Miller was eighth, with a time of 8:22.32.
The third and final day of the invitational begins tomorrow morning at 9 a.m., with six swimming events on the docket.
