ONEONTA, NY – The Hartwick women's tennis team picked up their first win of the season today, topping visiting Plattsburgh by a score of 6-3. The win moves the Hawks to 1-1 on the season, while the Cardinals drop to 1-3.
'Wick started off by taking two of three in doubles. Victoria Wilson (Trenton, NJ/Trenton Catholic Academy) and Jade Killikelly (Jamaica, NY/The Mary Louis Academy) picked up an 8-5 win in the top pairing, and Val Kohberger (Seneca Falls, NY/Mynderse Academy) and Colleen Marsh (Marcellus, NY/Marcellus) won 8-3 in second doubles.
Killikelly continued to win at top singles, defeating Cydney Bond 7-6(2), 6-1. Ryann Ashby (Malta, NY/Ballston Spa) popped a 6-2, 6-4 victory in #2 singles, Kohberger won 6-0, 7-5 in fourth singles, and Marsh accounted for the final Hawk point in #6 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win.
'Wick is right back at it tomorrow, as they travel up to Rochester to start Empire 8 play in a 1 p.m. match against St. John Fisher.
