UTICA, N.Y. – Hartwick wasted little time getting on the board and kept the pressure on to defeat the Utica University Pioneers on the road 3-1 in an Empire 8 contest.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Hawks asserted themselves early; 42 seconds to be exact as Holly Calore (Rocky Point, N.Y.) found the back of the cage with an assist coming from Lex Matarazzo (Commack, N.Y.).
- The Pioneers were not phased by Hartwick's quick start, putting in the equalizer at the 8:08 mark in the first quarter.
- Ashley Tricarico (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute overall of action with her sixth goal of the season. Julie Ruzzi (High Falls, N.Y.) picked up the assist.
- The Hawks held on to their one-goal lead throughout the 3rd quarter and into the 4th. However, Leah Tolley (Pittsford, N.Y.) provided the extra cushion with her fourth goal of the season in the 49th minute. Sydney Gagnon (Chestertown, N.Y.) provided the assist.
- Keeper, Madison Maddocks (Garrison, N.Y.) improved to 7-4 on the year in the cage, recording two saves.

The Hawks return home to face off with Washington and Jefferson on Saturday, October 15 at 11 AM. The program will also honor their seniors prior to the start of the contest.
