ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hawks fell behind by two early and were unable to overcome the early deficit and ultimately fall to the SUNY New Paltz Hawks 3-1 in non-conference action.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The visiting New Paltz Hawks put up four shots on goal and earned four penalty corners in the 1st quarter, but Hartwick's defense kept them off the board.
- The home squad flipped the script on the visiting Hawks, putting up eight shots to New Paltz's three.
- However, New Paltz made the most of those three shots, picking up a goal in the 19th minute of play off of a corner attempt.
- New Paltz struck again early in the 28th minute of play with a reverse stick drive from the top of the circle off of another corner.
- Hartwick, who earned five penalty corners in the 2nd quarter made the most of their fifth, picking up a goal with time expired on the clock.
- Leah Tolley (Pittsford, N.Y.) notched the goal on a lift from the right side of the goal into the top left corner to cut the New Paltz lead in half.
- The contest continued to be a back-and-forth affair with the visitors taking control in the 3rd quarter.
- New Paltz extended their lead to 3-1 in the 41st minute putting away a rebound off of an initial Madison Maddocks (Garrison, N.Y.) save.
- Hartwick turned it on in the 4th quarter, not allowing New Paltz to get a shot off, but getting off four of their own.
- Unfortunately for Hartwick, the three shots on goal that they put up were denied by the New Paltz keeper.
- The 3-1 score would hold up for New Paltz, earning the non-conference victory.

The Hawks hit the road on Saturday to resume Empire 8 competition in a critical matchup against the Highlanders of Houghton University. Game time is set for 7 PM.
