Hartwick Men Defeat Nazareth 170-118

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Hartwick Hawks Men's Swimming and Diving improved their Empire 8 record to 2-0 on Saturday afternoon with a 170-118 win over Nazareth.
 
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
 
  • Hartwick started off strong, picking up a win in the 200-meter medley relay.  Mikey Schultz (Binghamton, N.Y), Sebastian Knowles (Plano, Tex.), Nic Tirrell (Turner, Me.), and Reid Sinkinson (Telford, Pa.) finished their race with a time of 1:51.75.
  • Knowles followed up his relay performance with a first-place finish in the 100-meter breaststroke, finishing with a time of 1:10.34.
  • The men picked up important points in the 12th event of the day, taking the top three spots in the 200-meter butterfly.  Schultz finished first, followed by Dawson Tupponce (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Nick Canney (Chandler, Ariz.).
  • Devin Masongsong (Pleasant Hill, Calif.) delivered a first-place finish in the 200-meter backstroke with a time of 2:25.28.
  • Schultz and Tupponce went 1-2 in the 100-meter butterfly to pick up 15 points for Hartwick in the 26th event of the afternoon.
  • Schultz and Masongsong also picked up 15 points with their 1-2 finish in the 200-meter individual medley.

The Hawks return to their home pool on Saturday, November 12 as they host cross-town rival, Oneonta State at 1 PM.
